The rebuilding process is well underway, after Hurricane Irene swept through the East Coast and brought torrential rains, high winds and catastrophic flooding. Reports say that at least 38 people perished in the storm, including four in Virginia.
Millions faced power outages and flooding, and the rebuilding process will take months. Gleaning For The World had staff on the ground in locations that were hit especially hard. They distributed emergency relief supplies like food, water, blankets and personal care items.
Between Hurricane Irene and the flooding caused by Tropical Storm Lee, Gleaning For The World sent 30 tractor-trailer loads of essential supplies.
Even though the storm has passed, residents are still in need of help as they rebuild their lives. Please consider donating to the Hurricane Irene relief effort. Every bit helps, and can make these difficult days easier on storm victims. You can donate on our secure server here.
