Gleaning For The World is a 501c(3) nonprofit organization that is faith-based in nature. We exist to share the love of God at home and around the world through the efficient delivery of high quality, life-saving supplies to victims of poverty and devastation by connecting corporate surplus to critical needs.

We work in the United States and around the world supplying the impoverished with food, water, shoes, medical supplies and many other important resources.

We use a powerful concept called “gleaning” to accomplish this mission. By gleaning we mean that, from a host of generous corporate donors, we collect surplus medical and other essential supplies which we then are able to distribute where humanitarian help is needed worldwide.

Our ability to both glean and distribute humanitarian help is due entirely to the generosity of additional thousands of individual donors. To insure that our humanitarian help arrives at its destination as quickly as possible and at the least possible cost, GFTW employs its experience and expertise to provide expedited distribution channels, logistical support and reliable and timely communication with both our corporate and individual donors. We believe that all God’s children are deserving of compassionate and reliable humanitarian help, regardless of ethnic, religious or cultural background.

Gleaning For The World has been working with several churches around the country doing “Big Give” events as part of our local church outreach.

GFTW is working with churches to supply them with important resources, like food, water, shoes, clothing and stuffed animals. The churches are able to freely give away these goods to members of their communities. We are hearing back from partnering churches that this is having a huge impact.

Down in Miami, Florida, Trinity Church has used GFTW supplies for several events that have resulted in over 1,600 people coming to Christ – amazing!

If you are interesting in hosting a Big Give, please email us at info@gftw.org.

Following last year’s string of devastating natural disasters, GFTW is making preparations to respond to even more destruction in 2012. With several strings of tornadoes and flooding already this year, it is more important than ever to have a warehouse that is ready to ship critically-needed supplies at a moment’s notice.

We currently have 98,000 blankets and six tractor-trailer loads of water (over 200,000 individual bottles of water) stored in our warehouses, specifically earmarked for disaster relief. Our goal is to consistently respond to disaster sites within 24-36 hours. Storing such large quantities of relief supplies saves lives in the crucial hours and days after a catastrophe occurs.

Simply stockpiling supplies is not enough, though. It is important to have community support during these times of preparation. As we enter into what is commonly referred to as “tornado season” in the U.S. Midwest and Southern states, we rely on partnerships with community members to get some of our most important products into the hands of those who need it most.

The goods that are most valuable in disaster situations, aside from water and blankets are baby supplies, cleaning products and personal care items. Please consider partnering with GFTW to supply some of these items. Even the smallest donation is important and will make a difference in the life of someone in a tough situation.

We would not be nearly as effective or efficient were it not for the time they spend serving at our Concord, VA warehouse.

In 2011, volunteers spent over 10,000 hours sorting and packing various products, including food, personal care items, cleaning supplies and so much more. The supplies they worked with touched an estimated 8 million people all around the world.

To celebrate our friends in ministry, GFTW is hosting our Second Annual Volunteer Appreciation Event. If you were a volunteer in 2011, please join us on April 21 at Thomas Terrace Baptist Church and let us show you how thankful we are for you!

Please RSVP here: http://conta.cc/H6JMPw

This was the 1st annual “Teddy Bear Toss” for the LU Men’s Hockey team and plans are already being made for next year’s toss. The Flames ended the night by defeating Central Oklahoma 8-2. You can follow the Liberty Flames by clicking here.
