Volunteer Today

With a volunteer force approaching 2,000 individuals, hundreds of volunteers provide assistance at Gleaning For The World on a monthly basis. They come from various community organizations, Boy and Girl Scout troops, churches and youth groups, and vary in age and background. All of them have one thing in common: a desire to help hurting people and relieve suffering.

Step 1: Getting Started

Before you contact our volunteer coordinator, prepare to answer a few simple questions:
– How many are in your group? (It may be just yourself.)
– When would you like to volunteer?
– Will your group require any special accommodations?

Step 2: Call or Email

Contact us. Our phone number is (434) 993-3600 or email our volunteer coordinator, Danielle Sarchet, at Danielle@gftw.org. We will work with you to set up a time to come in and tour our facilities. Keep in mind our normal volunteer hours are M-F 9 am – 5 pm. We also have a few select night groups throughout the week.

Step 3: When You Come In

Most of our volunteer work is done in a warehouse setting. Please dress appropriately.
Open-toed shoes and dangling jewelry may be a hazard.
No children under the age of 12 are allowed in the warehouse.
