Providing Relief To Hurting Families After The Tornado

Georgia Tornado Testimonial

An EF-3 tornado tore a mile-wide path through Albany, Georgia.  This January tornado was on the ground for just over an hour.  Hundreds of homes and businesses were destroyed or damaged in this city of 75,000 residents.  A large part of Albany was without power for a week as power crews traveled from all over Georgia to repair the local power grid.

We responded immediately – providing more than 120,000 bottles of clean drinking water and 4,100 warm blankets to hurting families.

Our partners were very grateful for the help we provided.

Gleaning For The World delivered tractor-trailer loads of bottled drinking water, blankets and mixed household supplies to residents.  It made a huge difference in an area that was described by officials as ‘looking like a nuclear bomb went off.

After such devastation, emotions were running high.  Many residents found temporary housing. Some stayed in damaged homes.  All were thankful for supplies.
