Get The Food They Need
Across America, there are hardworking families struggling to make ends meet. Millions rely on food pantries, churches and soup kitchens when they approach the end of the month. You probably know a family who does this and do not even know it. They are proud and do not want friends and families to know they cannot make ends meet.
We are providing relief to these struggling families. We are providing churches, food pantries and soup kitchen in rural and urban America with healthy food choices.
How can you help? A donation of $15 can provide a family-of-four with a week’s worth of food. For every $1 donated we can provide a child with a week’s worth of milk.
Support is provided by a $50,000 grant from
Gleaning For The World has pledged to ease hunger and encouraging healthy choices in the US. This past year we drastically increased our output of food to needy American families. We partner with food banks and pantries in urban and rural areas to get food to hungry families who lack access to affordable fresh food.
We provided 228,500 meals worth of fresh fruit and vegetables to our local community, as well as, to urban centers, such as the Washington DC area. Fresh fruit and vegetables, like sweet potatoes, cabbage and bananas, were sorted into 10 pound bags and placed on the shelves at food banks.
Canned foods are in high demands across the country. With long shelf lives, we are able to stock food pantries and other distribution services with canned of nutritious food for families in need. They are able to go to food pantries and pick up food to feed their families or store food for later. Canned food is an essential part of getting food to needy families across the United States.
Gleaning is committed to helping underprivileged families access consistent, healthy food. Food banks and pantries are a vital and efficient resources to help needy families. Therefore, we stocked food banks with a tremendous 81 tons of canned goods in last year alone! That is 108,000 meals with long shelf life food for low income American families.
We provided 149,500 MREs (meals ready to eat). These are self contained, full meals that are hot and immediately consumable. They provide more than half of the needed calories for one day. They are also invaluable to the homeless who are often unable to store other food for long periods.
