Last week, Central Virginia came out in multitudes to support families of Pamplin, Appomattox and Evergreen who were affected by the EF-3 tornado. They donated 15 TONS of food, water, cleaning supplies, paper products and more. It was an incredible turnout!
On Thursday, March 3, our staff and volunteers took these much needed supplies to the distribution center at Evergreen Baptist Church. Families came by to pick up the supplies they needed. Volunteers also sorted through the supplies and worked to put together personalized care packages for the families.
While our volunteers were at Evergreen Baptist providing supplies to Appomattox families, we also decided to work directly with one family who had lost everything. This family was forced to separate after their home was destroyed. Some went to stay with extended family, others at a hotel, while their pets were taken in by a family friend. We loaded their rental truck with as much food, cleaning supplies, paper products and pet food as we could.
Thank you for partnering with us in helping our neighbors. With your support, we have been able to provide many with critical relief.
